Stopping illicit Arms trafficking

Empowering Communities. Strengthening Regulations. Bridging

Our mission:

..... is to stop the flow of illicit firearms from the grassroots and ensure that the great work of national regulatory frameworks is supported by real-world intelligence and community engagement. With a robust coalition of African countries—starting with Nigeria—we unite local expertise with the stringent legal standards defined by the Firearms Act 1968 and its subsequent updates to safeguard communities and enhance international security.

Our Vision and Mission:

We believe that combating the illicit firearms trade requires both meticulous adherence to legal standards and dynamic, on-the-ground action. Our vision is a world where communities are not only protected by strong laws and standards but are also active participants in preventing the spread of illegal arms. Our mission is to:

  • Empower Communities: Equip local leaders with training and tools to detect and prevent illicit firearm trafficking.
  • Monitor and Analyze: Utilize cutting-edge technology and real-time data collection to map trafficking routes and identify emerging threats.
  • Support Regulatory Excellence: Provide intelligence that complements the regulatory frameworks, such as the Firearms Act 1968 and the recent Firearms Act 2023, ensuring that enforcement agencies have the latest, actionable insights

What We Do:

Prevention Through Community Engagement

  • Grassroots Education: We conduct targeted training sessions with community leaders and local law enforcement in Nigeria and beyond. These sessions emphasize safe handling practices, awareness of illegal trafficking methods, and the importance of secure storage measures in line with Home Office guidance.
  • Awareness Campaigns: Leveraging local media, workshops, and digital platforms, we spread critical information on the risks associated with illicit firearms, ensuring that communities understand both the legal and personal consequences of illegal arms proliferation.

Precision Monitoring and Data Intelligence

  • Real-Time Intelligence: Our network of trusted local informants and digital monitoring tools captures vital data on firearms trafficking routes. This intelligence is systematically analyzed and verified, ensuring it meets rigorous standards—comparable to the meticulous processes outlined in the Home Office firearms licensing law.
  • Regulatory Alignment: We continually update our methodologies to reflect the latest in regulatory requirements, such as the updated deactivation standards and the guidelines on safe storage as highlighted in the Home Office’s technical documentation. Our commitment is to ensure that the intelligence we collect informs policy and shapes effective, law-abiding responses.
  •  Data-Driven Decision Making: Our interactive dashboards and periodic bulletins translate complex data into clear trends and actionable insights. These insights have the potential to inform both policy development and tactical interventions against trafficking networks.

Opportunities for Collaboration:

To maximize the impact of our work and further enhance the security frameworks in place, we propose a strategic collaboration with the Home Office. Potential areas for joint action include:

  • Intelligence Sharing Platforms:   Establish secure, integrated channels where our grassroots-collected data and your regulatory insights merge—ensuring that early warnings and trafficking patterns are detected and acted upon swiftly.
  • Joint Training and Capacity Building:   Co-host workshops and webinars that bring together Home Office experts and our field operatives. These sessions could focus on the latest best practices in firearms deactivation, secure storage, and compliance with the Firearms Act 1968 and Firearms Act 2023.
  • Collaborative Research and Policy Development:   Engage in joint studies and produce co-branded research reports that examine emerging trends in illicit firearms trafficking. These reports can provide a data-driven foundation for future policy enhancements and operational tactics.
  • Public Engagement and Transparency:   Feature success stories and real-life case studies on our website that demonstrate how collaborative efforts have led to tangible security improvements. This can serve as a model for how grassroots intelligence enhances national regulation, appealing to both communities and policymakers.
